John serves as the Southwest Regional Representative for Washington Governor Bob Ferguson, a position he held in Governor Jay Inslee’s administration beginning in August of 2022. He has more than eight years of experience in community outreach, government relations, grassroots political organizing, and volunteer management. Most recently before his time in state service, John was the Political Director at Clark County Forward, where he recruited, trained, and organized volunteers to contact local voters and educate them on candidates, county charter amendments, and other ballot measures. Prior to that role, he directed field campaigns for local school levies, worked as a temporary union organizer for SEIU 775, managed campaigns for WA 18th Legislative District State Representative and Port of Vancouver Commissioner candidates, and was a summer intern with Washington Conservation Voters (now Washington Conservation Action).
John is a graduate of the University of Washington, where he earned a B.A. in Political Science and a B.S. in Psychology. He was born in Seattle, raised in Lynnwood, and has lived in Vancouver, Washington for more than eight years. In his free time, John loves to hike trails along the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area such as Beacon Rock and the Cape Horn Trail, play disc golf at the Glenwood and Hockinson Meadows courses, stillwater kayak on Coldwater and Lacamas lakes, and camp in the many state parks that Southwest Washington has to offer.
