Comments:
Narrow parking spaces, generally characterized as about 8 feet wide, maximize the number of cars that can fit into a designated parking lot. Small spaces minimize pavement while still providing adequate room for more vehicles.

Comments:
In most communities, standard parking spaces are 10-12 feet wide. Even a slight reduction to 9-foot wide spaces can increase parking efficiency – and thereby require less impervious surface. At the Wild Oats Market in NE Portland, smaller spaces allowed for a smaller parking lot and a more naturalistic pedestrian entryway.
